Sandbox chronicles

Just about any evening, you can find the boys outside in their sandbox. Even today, despite Grant's stomach bug (UGH), they spent a few minutes pushing their trucks through the sand. These pictures are from last week, but they represent how we've been spending a lot of our time.

They play really well together in it for the most part, too. There's the occasional squabble over who wants which truck, but they're usually pretty good about sharing (while saying "Turn, Bubba" to denote both "It's your turn now" and "It's MY turn now").

Keeping the sand in the sandbox, on the other hand... well, they're not so good at that.

Little leprechauns

Last Sunday brought St. Patrick's Day and some big-time fun in the form of a little surprise from Mimi and Poppy... a sandbox! We went to pick it up from Toys R Us that morning, and Ryan spent the boys' naptime creating a home for it in the backyard and filling it with sand. 

They weren't real sure what to think of it at first.

But they love any excuse to play with shovels and trucks, so they gave it a try.

It took some coaxing, but eventually they climbed in and had a little digging party.

Saturday smiles

We have had a great weekend with these sweet, hilarious, bossy boys, to include bluebonnet pictures and lots of fun around the house. I'll post those pictures soon, but first I need to catch up on last weekend. 

Last Saturday we hung around the house all day. I went to a baby shower that morning, and then Ryan and Mr. Rudy (or "Ru," as the boys call him) worked in the flower beds all afternoon. Jordan, Dylan, and Steven came for a visit, too, which is always a super special treat, but unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures. 

That evening after dinner we enjoyed the extra hour of daylight (and gorgeous weather) and played outside for a couple of hours.

Of course there were laps around the yard...

And stopping to salute (or jump up and try to reach) the Longhorn flag... they call it "Hum-um" because of one of their favorite books, "Hello, Hook'em."

Then, for a change, I actually got to be in some pictures with my best boys.

And I will say, they do love wrestling with Daddy, but they love playing airplane with Mommy just as much. Grant is really good at it, and Reid starts laughing and wiggling before I even get him off the ground, which makes it nearly impossible to keep him in the air.
