First movie theater trip

On Labor Day weekend 2013 (that's right, over a year ago) Honey and I took the boys to see their first movie in the theater. But first we stopped off for a very special visit -- Tennie had just moved to a new retirement community in Kingwood and we wanted to say hi. 

These boys just love visiting their great-great-grandmother. They think she has the coolest toys.

They love pushing the buttons on her chair remote and -- bless her heart -- Tennie will just sit there until they've laid her totally horizontal and practically brought her up to her feet. 

And of course they like to give her a little snuggle before we go, too:

After we left our visit, it was time for their movie theater debut: Disney's Planes. We broke the rules and snuck in Chick-fil-a with the hopes of keeping them occupied for a bit longer. 

I honestly thought we would be lucky to make it an hour, but these little moviegoers surprised me.

We managed to stay for the entire movie… though not exactly in our seats. 

That last picture is my child sitting on the theater floor. I may have thrown up a little when that happened. They preferred to watch the show sitting on the ground and peeking between the chairs in front of us. But hey, we made it! 

We've since been a couple more times (on their 3rd birthday and again this past summer), and we haven't lasted for the whole movie again… so this first time was totally impressive in my book.

Fall festival fun

Last night Honey and I took the boys to the fall festival at FBC Dayton, and they had such a good time. They switched costumes (Reid was Buzz and Grant was Woody) and didn't miss a beat!

There were lots of games to play (and lots of candy to win!) -- beanbag tosses, horseshoes, fishing, shuffleboard, basketball, and more -- and they didn't even mind waiting in line.

And LOTS of junk food, which is always guaranteed to make these two happy.

They ate hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, fruit snacks, and candy and were in total heaven. 

We had a fun surprise when we ran into their best friends from Susu's house, Kaelinn and Karlie:

They were such sweet boys all night, which, with two three-year-olds, is something I don't ever take for granted!

They got to play in the bounce house for a few minutes and then wanted to get their faces painted. Reid chose a spider (because the girl didn't know how to paint a robot) and Grant chose -- what else? -- a pink flower. Bless.

We really did have a good, easy time, and tonight after we got them all tucked into bed and I had given out the final kisses and hugs and was walking out of their bedroom, Grant said "Mommy? Thanks for taking us to that Halloween party." Melt! My sweet, sweet babies.

These boys have been sooooooo excited about their Halloween costumes this year. And to top it off, this morning was their costume parade at school, which was nearly enough to send them into orbit.

Once we got to school, Buzz and Woody paraded around the halls and into the other classrooms for all the parents to see.

They were so proud to have their mom and dad there for the parade!

Tonight we're hitting the Fall Festival at FBC Dayton, and we've agreed that they will switch costumes so Reid can be Buzz. (When we first started talking about their costumes, they both wanted to be Buzz but I told them that wouldn't work because there's only one. Well. Silly me. They both quickly corrected me and reminded me that there are two Buzzes on Toy Story 2… little smarties.) Don't feel too sorry for Reid, though -- he digs his Woody costume plenty. 

They are stoked about trick-or-treating tomorrow night for the very first time… so stay tuned for more Halloween fun!
