Christmas Eve

We spent the first part of Christmas Eve getting the house ready for that evening, when we were hosting around 30 members of my family for dinner. But first we made time for the Christmas Eve candlelight service at church:

 

The boys did fine for the first 30 minutes or so (during the music), but when our pastor started his message, they lost interest and started fussing. We spent the rest of the service chasing them around the Christmas tree in the foyer.

We rushed back home to finish the dinner preparations with help from Honey, Steph and Bret. Just before the rest of the family arrived, the boys got to open their first gifts: tools and tool belts from Aunt Sassy and Uncle B! (Grant's on the left and Reid's on the right below.)

 

We ate dinner (fajitas, tamales and enchiladas), hung out with family, played, and eventually got to open some more gifts.

And they REALLY loved their Laugh Out Loud Elmos from Honey and Big... or at least Reid did:

 

 

 

Grant wasn't so sure what to think about his at first. He liked it from far away but had no interest in getting close enough to actually touch it.

 

 

 

It was a sweet night, made even more special by the fact that Tennie was able to join us. Here's another five-generation picture:

The boys stayed up way past their bedtimes (until about 8:15) and then it was off to night-night to wait for Santa.
