E-i-e-i-ohhhhhhh boy, a petting zoo!

After R&G got tired of the pumpkin pictures, we headed into the "farm" and got busy visiting the various animal pens. I was so excited when the weather people predicted temperatures in the high 70s for 10 a.m., but they lied: it didn't take 5 minutes and Ryan and I were both dying from the heat. October in Texas is such a tease...

Anyway, our first stop was the sheep, which Grant HATED. Hated so much that I couldn't even get out my camera because he was clinging so tightly to me. We moved on quickly to the pygmy goats, and he started to warm up ever so slightly. Reid thought they were totally awesome, except when they jumped on his daddy to get to the bag of food he was holding...

Next stop was these sweet little deer that were just roaming around. Reid loved these guys too, and marched right up to one to try to love on it:

Grant got braver and braver (especially since these goats were behind a fence), and by the time we visited the pigs, he was a pretty cool customer. And Reid was just excited to have an excuse to make pig snorting noises.

We looked at a lot more animals -- llamas, rabbits, horses (with the boys neigh-ing the whole time), a cow, an emu, something that looked like a giant guinea pig (sick) -- but then the train bell started ringing so we high-tailed it to the station and it was all-aboard. We rode it around once and the boys enjoyed it so much that we immediately got in line for a second ride. This time Ryan stayed behind so he could take some pictures:

Despite the heat, the questionable hygiene of many of the animals (and patrons), and the world's most rickety train, it was a fun adventure and a memory we won't soon forget. I love these 21-month-old pumpkins!
