It took them a few minutes to warm up, predictably, but the animals were so tame and sweet that the boys didn't seem to feel threatened at all. There were goats (including tiny little pygmy goats), lambs, donkeys, fawns, potbelly pigs, ALPACAS...
Like with the pony rides, Grant was more hesitant at first, while Reid was all-in.
Reid loved petting the goats' ears, and Grant got brave eventually too:
I'm pretty sure Reid would have jumped on the goat's back and ridden it by the end, if he could...
But instead he settled for trying to French kiss it...
And I can't forget a character from one of the boys' favorite book series, Llama Llama:

Then I dragged all three of my guys around the exhibition hall looking for the Cavender's booth so we could try on pint-sized cowboy hats.
Y'all, they LOVED themselves in these!! Ryan was prepared to whip out his wallet and purchase two, but ultimately we decided to wait until next year when the boys would be more apt to leave them on their heads for more than 4 seconds. But seriously?? Toddlers in overalls and cowboy hats? There's not much cuter.
Finally the crankiness kicked in and it was time to get on the road, but not before we took the iconic rodeo family photo (which Grant wanted NO part of):
The rodeo is one of my very favorite Houston traditions, and I'm so happy we got to share the experience with our sweet boys. Next year we'll add turkey legs, funnel cake, the ferris wheel, and maybe even the actual rodeo itself to the agenda. Yeehaw, y'all!

So adorable! And you look so cute, friend! (Ryan and the boys aren't bad, either)
